At S & C, we are highly passionate by adult guitar education and we welcome all adults whether they have no prior musical experience or whether they are proficient guitarist who wish to improve their guitaristic skills with outstanding guitar instructors. Course details
S & C invites adults from all walks of life to study the guitar and improve their skills in a wonderful environment that has been specially created for them. Whether you are an absolute beginner without any prior musical knowledge, an intermediate player or an advanced amateur guitarist, you are welcome to join and improve your skills with highly qualified and experienced instructors.
Our guitar lessons for adults takes place weekly on a set day and time in our gorgeous premises in Gate Avenue Mall, DIFC.
The lessons are 45-minutes in duration and can be joined at any time during the year. (Longer lessons can be arranged on request)
We are open 7 days a week from 10:00 to 22:00. To find out about available time slots please contact Cristy at enrol@sandc.ae to choose the most convenient time for you to attend.
As all our guitar lessons for adults are highly personalised and tailored to the needs and wishes of each, you are welcome to decide whether you would like to sit the ABRSM grade examinations.
We totally understand that you play the guitar for your pleasure and enjoyment so this decision is totally optional.
We do not follow a set syllabus but rather adapt to each of our students as everyone is different and requires special attention.
We require an initial four-month attendance as we believe that it is the minimum amount of time an adult should study at S & C to benefit fully from our excellent guitar instruction. After this initial period, you are welcome to continue your guitar education on an on-going basis, but lessons are still booked per four months in advance.
Frequently asked questions
You are most welcome to join S & C, even if you are an absolute beginner with no prior musical experience. Our guitar courses are designed for adults who are brand new to music, so no previous knowledge is necessary. Learning to read music notation and theory will be part of your guitar course, so there is nothing to worry about.
Definitely not. We believe there is no age limit for learning and enjoying playing the guitar for your own pleasure.
Of course! You are most welcome to give it a try and book an introductory lesson to find out if playing the guitar is what you truly want to do. Be reassured, there is no need to possess any talent to join S & C. We believe all adults can play the guitar with the expert guidance of our excellent guitar instructors.
You do not need to own a guitar to start your guitar course, as the purchase of the most suitable instrument for you can be discussed with your instructor during your first guitar lesson. He or she will be able to make a recommendation and advise on the best guitar store to visit.
Absolutely! S & C is entirely dedicated to adults who wish to play for their pleasure and enjoyment, so you are more than welcome to join.
You definitely need to practise if you intend to make any progress. Attending your guitar lessons will offer you the guidance and feedback needed to improve in the right direction, but personal daily practice is necessary to enhance your guitar skills.
It all depends on your current guitaristic level. As a complete beginner, you can start with 15 minutes each day to get into the habit of practising daily. It should then increase to 30 minutes quite rapidly, as you will need enough time to review and improve the material studied during your guitar lessons.
Not at all. All our guitar instructors have been selected for their remarkable understanding of adults who play the guitar for their own pleasure. They are, therefore, extremely patient, kind, and supportive. We can assure you that your instructor will never judge, patronise, or criticise you negatively.
Yes, we do offer preparation for the ABRSM grade examinations from grade 1 to grade 8, but sitting the exams is not compulsory.
It is an extremely difficult question to answer as it all depends on your abilities and the exact goal you have in mind. Based on our experience, however, we can say that you should be able to play some simple yet exquisite guitar pieces after only a few lessons.
The duration of your guitar course depends on your personal goal, with a minimum attendance of three months. Your lessons will then take place on an ongoing basis until you are satisfied with your guitar playing or unable to continue your education. We do need four teaching weeks as a notice to stop the course.
Certainly. If you are a proficient guitarist, we recommend that you inform us before the beginning of your course. It should, therefore, be booked with one of our senior guitar instructors, who definitely possess the right set of skills and experience to help you improve further.
Absolutely. We understand how daunting it can be for a classically trained guitarist to step into jazz guitar playing, and we would be delighted to support you in your endeavour.
As we do not follow a set syllabus but prefer adapting to each individual, the content of our guitar lessons depends on your current abilities, wishes, and the style studied.
At S & C, we understand that it can be difficult for some busy professionals to attend their guitar lessons on a set day and time each week. We will be happy to accommodate you, but please inform us before signing up as any special request is subject to an extra fee and availability.
